Manche von euch haben bei Snapchat (jillepille91) oder Instagram vielleicht mitgekriegt, dass ich vor knapp zwei Wochen mit ein paar Freundinnen in Lyon war. Wir hatten Tickets für das EM-Vorrundenspiel von Belgien gegen Italien und haben daraus einfach mal einen fünftägigen Mädelsurlaub gemacht. Wir haben ein Appartement über Airbnb im schönen Viertel Croix Rousse gebucht und haben die fußballfreien Tagesabschnitte dafür genutzt, Lyon zu erkunden. Dabei haben wir einige schöne Stellen in der französischen Stadt an der Rhone und Saône ausfindig gemacht, die ich heute mit euch teilen möchte: 5 things to do in Lyon.

Some of you might already have seen on Instagram that I’ve spent some days in Lyon with my girls two weeks ago. We got tickets for the game Belgium vs. Italy and used this occasion to stay a bit longer in this beautiful city and do a mini-vacay out of this trip. Of course, we used the “soccer free” hours to do some sightseeing and to discover the most beautiful places in the city. Today, I share some of my highlights from our trip: 5 things to do in Lyon (scroll down to see the english version):
Da ich schon zum zweiten Mal innerhalb eines Jahres da war (voriges Jahr auf unserer Südfrankreich-Route) teile ich heute 5 Tipps mit euch, was ihr bei einem Citytrip in Lyon nicht verpassen solltet.
1. VIERTEL CROIX ROUSSE
Das Viertel Croix Rousse ist auf einem der Hügel in Lyon gelegen. Über kleine Gässchen mit schmalen (meist mit Graffiti besprüten Wänden) Treppen kann man den Berg aufsteigen. Wir haben lieber den weg von oben genutzt und sind die Treppen runter in Richtung Innenstadt gegangen. Auf dem Weg kreuzt man viele kleine Cafés, Restaurants, kleine individuelle Boutiquen und am Fuß des Croix Rousse den Place des Terreaux und das Hotel de Ville, das vor allem am Abend beleuchtet extrem imposant aussieht. Der Platz ist abends zum Ausgehen beliebt. Nach dem feiern haben wir abends immer das Taxi genommen, zu Fuß hätten wir es nicht ausgehalten. Steil ist hier nämlich kein Ausdruck! Man kann aber auch die Tram nehmen, um den Berg zu erklimmen. 🙂 Auch unsere Airbnb Wohnung war im Viertel gelegen und ein echtes Schmuckstück. Klein aber extrem stilvoll. Wenn ihr mal nach Lyon reist, können wir die Wohnung sehr empfehlen. Wir haben uns dort gut vergönnt und auch die Hosts waren nett und unkompliziert.
2. PARC DE LA TÊTE D’OR
Ein bisschen Grün in einer Großstadt? Bietet sofort die Möglichkeit auszuspannen und ein bisschen Abstand von der schnelllebigen Innenstadt zu bekommen. Der Parc de la Tête d’Or ist mitten im Stadtzentrum gelegen und ein besonders schöner Fleck in Lyon. Hier findet sich nicht nur jede Menge Grünfläche zum Relaxen, sondern auch ein botanischer Garten sowie ein integrierter Tierpark – und das alles kostenlos. Herrlich, hätten wir uns nicht zum Fußball schauen verabredet, wären wir sicher noch länger auf diesen gemütlichen Sitzen im Park sitzen geblieben.
3. MARKT AM QUAI ST. ANTOINE ODER CROIX ROUSSE BESUCHEN
Ich liebe Märkte! Die Atmosphäre ist in jedem Land und in jeder Stadt anders. Auch in Lyon gibt es ein paar Märkte, die ihr besuchen solltet: Entweder beim Markt am Place Croix Rousse Frisches aus der Gegend für euer Frühstück holen oder beim größten Markt der Stadt am Quai St Antoine vorbeischauen. Dort findet man von dienstags bis sonntags von leckere kulinarische Köstlichkeiten aus der Gegend, Gewürze, Obst/Gemüse (auch vieles zum Probieren!), Blumen und vieles mehr. Dort kann man sich übrigens auch wunderbar mit Proviant für den nächsten Tipp eindecken:
4. AUFSTIEG BERG FOURVIÈRE
Durch einen antiken Park (Parc des Hauteurs) kann man auf den zweiten Berg Lyons aufsteigen: den Berg Fourvière, von dem aus man eine grandiose Sicht auf die Stadt hat und sich die imposante Basilika Notre-Dame anschauen kann. Dieses Jahr haben wir am Aussichtspunkt gechillt, letztes Jahr habe ich mit meinem Freund im Restaurant “Restaurant de Fourvière” gegessen. Das war sehr lecker und die Sicht (vor allem von der Terrasse aus) unschlagbar. Auch wenn es bei heißem Wetter anstrengend sein kann – unbedingt aufsteigen!
5. DURCH VIEUX LYON FLANIEREN
Auch Vieux Lyon, die Altstadt, ist sehr sehenswert. Am Place Saint-Jean fand am Tag unseres Besuches ein Flohmarkt in traumhafter Kulisse vor der Kathedrale Saint-Jean statt. Dieser findet jährlich jeden 2. Samstag und jeden 2. Sonntag des Juni statt. Geht man von diesem Platz aus in die Rue Saint-Jean, reihen sich auch hier Restaurants und Cafés nebeneinander. Dort könnt ihr dann beispielsweise einen leckeren Pfannkuchen auf die Faust bestellen oder eine leckere Spezialität aus Lyon kosten. Einfach an den antiken Konditoreien, Teehäusern etc. vorbei laufen, sie werden euch sofort auffallen. 🙂
FAZIT: Es war ein toller Mädelsurlaub mit lieben Freundinnen, der unbedingt nach Wiederholung schreit. ❤️ So ein paar Tage Urlaub mit lieben Menschen und jede Menge Spaß an einem schönen Ort tut unglaublich gut! Danke für die schönen Tage ihr Lieben. 😍

1. STROLL THROUGH THE STREETS OF CROIX ROUSSE
The area of Croix Rousse is located on one of the hills of the city. Through little narrow alleys (often covered with graffiti) and l-o-t-s of stairs, you can go up the hill to discover the lovely quarter Croix Rousse. We preferred to use these small alleys and stairs to go down to the city center and took the tram to go up as it’s so steeply. Through the little alleys, we crossed lots of little cafés, bars, boutiques and more! Arrived at the food of the hill, you will cross “Place des Terreaux” with the beautiful Hotel de Ville. It’s a prominent area to go out in Lyon and seeing the Hotel de Ville illuminated by night is quite impressive as well. We also stayed at the area of Croix Rousse in a nice Airbnb apartment, I can definitely recommend.
2. DISCOVER THE BEAUTIFUL NATURE AT PARC DE LA TÊTE D’OR
A little green in the city center? Perfect to relax and get a little pause from the fast-moving atmosphere in the city. The “Parc de la tête d’or” is located in the city center in Lyon and offers a lot of green areas to relax. The park is approximately 117 hectares large – and features a small zoo (with giraffes, elephants, reptiles & more) as well as a beautiful botanical garden – and all of that for free. No wonder it was one of our fav places in the city!
3. GO TO THE MARKETS IN LYON
I love markets! The atmosphere is so different in each country and the market schedule is one of the first things I look up when planning a trip. In Lyon, I can recommend to visit the little market in Croix Rousse (place de croix rousse) to buy a delicious baguette and some fresh products for your breakfast. Another recommendation: The market at Quai Saint-Antoine, which is the biggest market in Lyon and offers from Tuesday to Saturday lots of regional products (from which you can try a lot at the different stands!), beautiful flowers and lots more. You can go there to buy a fresh pique-pique for the next tip:
4. CLIMB THE FOURVIÈRE HILL
Crossing the antique park “Parc des Hauteurs” you can climb the second hill of Lyon: The Fourvière Hill, from which you have an excellent view of Lyon. When you made it to the top, you can also access the beautiful Basilika Notre-Dame. Whether you relax on top of the hill on the lookout to enjoy the view or you go to the restaurant “Restaurant de Fourvière” – climbing the Fourvière hill is really worth the effort.
5. STROLL THROUGH VIEUX LYON
The historic city from Lyon is called “Vieux Lyon” and really worth to discover! On the day we visited this area, there was a flea market taking place at Place Saint-Jean. It takes place every year on the 2nd Saturday and 2nd Sunday of June. After taking a look at the beautiful Place Saint-Jean, I recommend to go through the Rue Saint Jean then to take a look at the beautiful houses and stop at a nice restaurant or confectioner, where you can taste some of the specialties of Lyon. Pretty sure the pinkish pastries will directly catch your attention.
